宇宙に関する用語を英語で表現
宇宙を英語でなんという？
英語で宇宙を意味する言葉は3つあります。
space / outer space
⇒これは宇宙空間を表します。「outer」には「外の」という意味がありますので地球より外の空間という事です。
universe
⇒「universe」には「宇宙、天地万有、万物」等の意味があり、地球を含めた宇宙全体を指します。通常は「the universe」とtheを付けます。
cosmos
⇒「cosmos」には「(秩序と調和の表われとしての)宇宙」という意味があります。宇宙観であったり摂理を表す時に使う単語なので、一般的な会話で宇宙を指す時には使われません。
